Speaker: Nanda Kuswanto

  • What is Thanksgiving to Christians?
  • What is Thanksgiving to God?
  • Christians pray, Christians pray a lot.
    • Our God is a God who answers prayers.
    • Yet, when we have received the answers, how many times do we give thanks?
  • We as human beings often express what we need but tend to forget to give thanks.
  • Thanksgiving day – Let us remember to give thanks for everything we have in our life.

Built a Monument

  • Everything written in the Bible is written for a reason.
  • (Exodus 15) – story about the Israelites in the wilderness.
  • Massah and Meribah
    • These are the places where the Israelites tested the Lord.
    • Meaning: proving and strife
    • God asked them to name the place Massah and Meribah, so that they would remember when times were hard but God was with them, answering their needs.
  • Those who fail to remember history will make the same mistake again.
    • Many Christians make mistakes but they do not remember.
    • Those mistakes will be monuments in your life. They are placed there so you’ll remember the mistakes you made and learn to not make them again.
  • (Exodus 17: 8-16)
    • The Lord is my banner
  • The Israelites shouldn’t have complained
    • They should have known better than anyone how God is always with them in all the situation they are facing.
  • (Acts 1:8) – "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
    • We are in the season of evangelism.
  • There is a reason God is doing something in our lives.
    • Always remember how far you’ve gone.
    • When we remember God’s goodness, it makes us better witnesses.
  • Have you ever looked back to your life and remembered the monuments that have happened?
    • God wants you to build monuments in your life.
    • Learn to be thankful.
    • Recognize all the good things God has done.
  • We are who we are because of all the people God has placed in our lives.
    • The reason Joshua was used so mightily by God was because of Moses. Moses made some mistakes but he was placed in Joshua’s life so that they would remember the mistakes they made and learn from them.
  • Remember the monuments God has placed in your life
